Safety upgrades for Aygo and Yaris

The features form part of the Toyota Safety Sense package, introduced on the refreshed Avensis and Auris earlier this year, but previously unavailable on smaller models. Aygo owners can now add it for £375, while it costs £400 for the Yaris. In both cases it isn’t offered on the entry-level trim.

This includes a feature which warns the driver if they’re approaching another car travelling 10mph faster, it then readies the brakes for an emergency stop and can autonomously slow the vehicle by up to 19mph to reduce the speed of impact or avoid it altogether.

Lane Departure Warning, which monitors road markings and alerts the driver if they start to drift, is also included, and the Yaris adds automatic main-beam headlights to the package’s features.
