Rygor team gets critical worker back on the road

Technicians at Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer group Rygor turned their hand at car mechanics to ensure a critical worker was mobile as soon as possible.

Rygor’s Nathan Roberts with David Ellis

With many car dealers closed during the lockdown, David Ellis, a maintenance provider at a local dementia home, found h himself stuck when his car broke down on the drive to work.

So he looked online for other companies in the area that could potentially help and spoke to Rygor through their online chat function. The customer service advisor he spoke to got in touch with Rygor’s Nuneaton branch. Gavin and Nathan at the site managed to organise a recovery van to come and collect the car and take it to their workshop.

Nathan Roberts, workshop manager at Rygor Nuneaton, said: “Rygor is a Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer group, so all our diagnostic systems link with vans or trucks. But of course, our technical team does have a huge collective knowledge and experience of a wide range of vehicles and together we diagnosed the problem with David’s car. It’s always our mission to maximise vehicle uptime for our customers, but with David being a critical worker, we wanted to make sure we could get him back on the move as soon as possible.”

Gavin Smith, Rygor Nuneaton service manager, added: “We did find it a challenge to get the appropriate parts for David’s car, with so many car dealers closed at the moment, but Mertrux of Derby came through for us and sent the parts down. This meant we were able to get David’s car fixed within just a couple of days.”

David Ellis commented: “I’m not sure what I would have done if the Rygor team wasn’t able to help me – I hate to imagine how long I would have been stuck there. Working long hours and needing to carry tools, having your own vehicle to get to and from the care home, is really important. I am so thankful to Gavin, Nathan and the team for going out of their way to help me, even though I am not a commercial vehicle customer.”
