Ryder to fit LED rear lights as standard on all new trucks

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The comppany says that it's seen significant gains in uptime following the introduction of LED lights.

Nigel Carr, Ryder’s head of engineering services, said: 'With gloomy winter days just around the corner, the greater durability and reliability of LEDs will not only improve safety, but the gains in vehicle uptime will provide noticeable benefits to our clients. Ryder’s biggest contract hire customers have welcomed the installation of LED clusters on their vehicles as they go through pre-delivery inspections and we plan to make them a standard fitment across our fleet.

'Energy-efficient LED lights have a lifetime rating of 100,000 hours, compared with just 800 hours for regular bulbs. This makes them a "fit for life" component that gives a cleaner, crisper light and produces less drain on the vehicle battery.'

The LED rear lights will be supplied by Peterson Europe. Ryder’s Nigel Carr added: 'Our aim is to ensure that we offer the most reliable trucks in the UK.  We are also working with other lighting manufacturers to be the first in the UK to fit homologated LED bulbs into existing vehicle lighting fittings and there are also LED headlight systems in development.'
