Rockingham responds to secure parking demand for lease and hire vehicles

Rockingham Group says it’s seeing a surge in enquiries for short-term, secure storage from local and national leasing and hire companies in response to the lockdown.

Rockingham says it has room to store a further 45,000 vehicles at present

With thousands of cars, vans, buses, coaches and construction vehicles now standing idle, and concerns rising over criminal activity during the lockdown, the group is using its facility to provide a secure solution for manufacturers, fleet operators and leasing companies; it says it has room to store a further 45,000 vehicles at present.

The storage, which sits alongside large-scale PDI and de-fleet vehicle processing facilities, has been made available at Rockingham in recent years after a multi-million pound investment rejuvenated the former raceway.

Stuart Wright, principal of Rockingham Group, said: “We understand that car rental companies such as Avis, Enterprise and Sixt need space to park tens of thousands of cars and vans not being used during the lockdown.

“With the growing shortage of secure vehicle parking in the UK, our facility offers a great solution. We have 200 acres of open storage for more than 40,000 private and commercial vehicles, with an overspill development capable of taking another 5,000 vehicles.

“During Covid-19, we are offering flexible terms for our vehicle storage, which is surrounded by protective fencing, with entry and exit only possible through manned access points. In turn, 24hr security patrols are complemented by a state-of-the-art CCTV system.”
