Renault offers free domestic charging units for ZOE customers

By / 8 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The funding package, announced in February, offers a 75% discount for home charging points, but doesn’t cover installations at work addresses. Renault will provide the additional 25% to make the units free, and the package will be available for business drivers installing a charging unit at home.

British Gas, Renault’s preferred charging partner, will be responsible for supplying and installing the Single Wall-box units, with plans to have it ready a month before the customer’s car is delivered.

Renault estimates that 90% of charging will take place at home, where the Single Wall-box is able to fully charge the ZOE’s battery in three and a half hours. Customers will also be able to see how much energy the car is using, via an online app, and the unit features its own built-in 4.5-metre cable. The package includes access to public charging points across the UK.

Andy Heiron, head of electric vehicle programme at Renault UK, said: ‘We’ve been delighted with the level of interest the British public have already shown in ZOE, recognising the major steps forward it makes in electric vehicle technology. Adding a free Wall-box to its chic styling and tempting pricing now makes it an even more irresistible proposition.’

Andreas Atkins, head of electric vehicle services at British Gas, added: ‘We are delighted to provide ZOE customers with safer, faster, convenient home charging, giving them access to public charge points across the country. In addition the data enabled unit will give customers the ability to view their energy usage and carbon savings – this is a great step forward in making owning and running an EV more affordable.’

And fleet decision-makers visiting this year's Fleet World Fleet Show will be offered an early chance to drive the ZOE along with the New Clio, Twizy and other models from Renault as part of a 200-plus model line-up from 21 manufacturers.
