Range Rover gains more efficient powertrains along with new flagship model

Set to make its debut at this week’s New York Auto Show, the new SVAutobiography has been exclusively produced by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations and is the most luxurious Range Rover ever with an exclusive premium leather interior featuring solid aluminium switchgear plus a chiller cabinet and electronically powered tables in the rear as well as a Duo-tone body colour option.

It’s also the most powerful production Range Rover ever with a specially turned 543bhp V8 Supercharged engine married up to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

Replacing the Autobiography Black at the top of the Range Rover line-up, the SVAutobiography is also available with SDV6 Hybrid and SDV8 powertrain derivatives with see increases in efficiency and performance for the 2016 Model Year. The revised SDV6 Hybrid now offers improved economy, with emissions down from 169g/km to 164g/km and improved economy of 45.6mpg compared to 44.5mpg previously. Meanwhile SDV8 derivatives are  offered with advanced stop-start technology, delivering 33.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 219g/km.

And SDV8 derivatives can now be specified with All-Terrain Progress Control system.

Other changes across the Range Rover line-up include a new, improved Surround Camera System with enhanced graphics and an integrated washer jet for the rear camera.

There’s also a new Gesture Tailgate as standard to provide hands-free access to the luggage area while Automatic Access Height automatically lowers the vehicle once parked, for improved entry and exit. And Land Rover’s InControl technologies now offer greater smartphone connectivity, user convenience and market availability.

Priced from £148,900, the Range Rover SVAutobiography will be on sale from summer 2015. The updated Range Rover 2016 Model Year line-up will also be on sale this summer priced from £74,950.
