Qualcomm and GreenRoad partner on fleet solution
Initially being offered to commercial vehicle fleets in North America and the UK, the solution combines Qualcomm’s Service Fleet Manager and the GreenRoad 360 service and will, say the two companies, enable fleets to better manage their assets, gain greater fuel efficiency and improve safety.
Qualcomm’s Service Fleet Manager mobile resource management system uses GPS technology to give fleets visibility into their assets and provide an immediate snapshot of critical vehicle information through a Web-based interface. It can help reduce overtime costs, boost revenue, cut fuel costs and improve customer satisfaction with enhanced scheduling and routing.
GreenRoad 360 provides the industry’s first driving behaviour improvement service with real-time, in-vehicle feedback and comprehensive visibility into those manoeuvres that most affect safe driving, fuel efficiency and emissions. It marries up live, individually tailored driver coaching with web-based applications that continuously rate driving skills.
According to the two companies, the combined offering allows fleets to install a single in-vehicle hardware platform, use one data plan, and access best-of-breed fleet management and driving behaviour improvement applications. The integrated service offers fleets a unique opportunity to realise the benefits that come from a combined mobile resource management and technology-based driving behaviour service, which requires less administration and can reduced costs by as much as 20%.
