Polestar electric roadster concept to head into production

Polestar has confirmed it will put its electric roadster concept into production, due to launch in 2026.

The hard-top convertible will feature the high-performance, 800-Volt electric architecture already confirmed for the Polestar 5 four-door GT, delivering up to 884hp and able to go 155mph flat-out

Revealed in Los Angeles last March as the Polestar O₂, the concept will take the Polestar 6 moniker and is already open for customers in active Polestar markets to reserve build slots.

“With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. “Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down.”

The hard-top convertible will be built on Polestar’s bespoke bonded aluminium platform. Developed in-house, it will feature the high-performance, 800-Volt electric architecture already confirmed for the Polestar 5 four-door GT. The dual motor powertrain will deliver output of up to 884hp and 900Nm, providing a targeted 0-62mph sprint time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 155 miles (250km/h).

Polestar will mark the launch by producing 500 numbered units of a special ‘LA Concept’ version, dubbed the ‘Polestar 6 LA Concept edition’ and featuring the bespoke ‘Sky’ blue exterior, light leather interior and 21-inch wheels of the original Polestar O₂ concept.

The news was announced this week as Polestar revealed the electric roadster concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ events during Monterey Car Week in California.

Further technical details and specification confirmations will be released in the run-up to the expected launch in 2026.
