Paragon Automotive completes restructure

The company said the move will allow it to provide integrated supply chain solutions throughout the life of a vehicle, and better respond to the demands of increased volumes.

Ian Carlisle, chief executive of Paragon Automotive, explained: “Last year saw the industry sell more than 2.6m new vehicles, and we’ve just had the biggest March on record, with new registrations exceeding 500,000 vehicles. Some of the more bullish commentators are predicting new sales will break three million this year.

“Whilst this is great for our industry, it creates unprecedented demands on the supply chain. Our customers are demanding a fresh approach to the old problems, and simply throwing money at an issue isn’t sustainable.

“We have reshaped our business around customer need to allow us to shorten or remove links through the supply chain. This will allow more vehicles to move more efficiently through the supply chain. Our new approach creates a greener supply chain that delivers cost efficiencies.”

The move follows a raft of recent announcements from Paragon that have seen RFID technology implemented at its port operations, a new remarketing operation, and investment in capacity at its de-fleet and refurbishment operations.

Investment in training and new technology within its demonstration and corporate PDI operations have seen expansion as fleet and dealer groups seek to outsource these services to meet demand.

Carlisle continued: “We see technology as a key driver to our industry over the next five years. Each vehicle is effectively a packet of data that can move ahead of the physical vehicle. Investment in everything from vehicle management software to digital imaging, will transform the way we operate.”

Paragon has also shuffled its senior team with Chris Higgins moving to group IT director, Mark Hindley group sales and marketing, and Martin Delamare to group logistics director.
