Opel/Vauxhall Ampera available at Europcar from November
The roll-out will begin with rental outlets in Germany this November, followed by Belgium and the Netherlands. Customers in France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the UK will be able to rent the Ampera from the beginning of 2012.
Customers will be able to feed their experiences back to the company via a series of questionnaires and online chat sessions.
The move forms part of Europcar’s Environmental Charter, a pledge to provide customers with fuel efficient, electric and hybrid vehicles that helped the company win the title of World’s Leading Green Transport Solution Company in 2010, awarded at the World Travel Awards.
‘At Europcar, we are committed to responsible and sustainable business practices. We see customers’ growing appetite for low CO2, environmentally-friendly solutions, especially in urban areas, and strongly believe that electric vehicles will help enhance access to greenest mobility solutions,’ said Rafael Girona, chief operating officer of Europcar.
Alain Visser, Opel/Vauxhall vice president sales, marketing and aftersales, added: 'Electric cars are among the best long-term solutions to meet society's energy and environmental challenges. The fact that Europcar is going to introduce the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera in its day-to-day business is further proof that our extended-range electric vehicle is completely suitable for everyday use – even as a fleet vehicle in the tough rental car business.'
