Nissan Leaf updated with new trims and lower pricing

Nissan is making a range of MY20 updates to its Leaf range to bring lower pricing and increased equipment.

The MY20 Leaf range includes a new entry-grade 62kWh model and lower OTR pricing for the range-topping Tekna e+

The changes bring specification enhancements to both 40kWh and 62kWh battery pack versions, including the introduction of an Intelligent Rearview Mirror on Tekna models, shark fin antenna as standard from N-Connecta, Blindspot Intervention on all grades, and the addition of telescopic adjustment on the steering wheel.

But the revisions also include the addition of a new entry-level e+ N-Connecta trim for the 62kWh battery capacity models. This sits under the e+ N-TEC and e+ Tekna and marries up the specification of the mid-range N-Connecta 40kWh version – including Intelligent Around View Monitor – with the higher-capacity battery, bringing a 239-mile range, up to 217hp of power, 340Nm of torque and a 0-62mph time of 6.9 seconds.

The new e+ N-Connecta trim makes the 62kWh battery option more accessible for fleets and is priced from £32,695 OTR, including the £3,000 Plug-in Car Grant.

Nissan has also reduced the OTR pricing for the range-topping e+ Tekna, which comes purely with the 62kWh battery and is now priced at £34,710; down by £1,685 and only £1,415 more than the e+ N-TEC.

The carmaker said the repositioning places the LEAF range “extremely competitively” against the competition.

Other changes see Tekna 40kWh versions now priced at £30,160, up £315 as they now also include Nissan’s Intelligent Rearview Mirror as standard. There are no changes to the Acenta and N-Connecta 40kWh and N-TEC 62kWh.

Finally, ProPilot, Nissan’s advanced driver assistance technology, and ProPilot Parking Assist option packs have also received a price reduction. ProPilot is now £145 cheaper on N-Connecta versions at £450, whilst ProPilot Parking Assist is £295 less, available for £795 on Tekna grades.

The MY20 Nissan Leaf starts production starting from 16 November.
