New Touareg gets 228bhp 3.0-litre diesel
Volkswagen’s new Touareg range is now available to order with a new 228bhp turbo diesel engine.

The 3.0-litre V6 TDI unit joins the 282bhp engine that the Touareg launched with in June, ahead of the arrival of a 335bhp V6 petrol in autumn and a range-topping 415bhp V8 diesel further down the road. A 362bhp plug-in hybrid is also arriving at some point.
All Touaregs are equipped with an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox and all feature 4Motion four-wheel drive and a limited slip differential.
The new 228bhp unit offers the same CO2 figure (173g/km) and towing capacity (3,500 kg) as the 282bhp unit.
Both the current diesels are available across the three-trim line-up, which covers SEL, R-Line and R-Line Tech. Pricing for the new 228bhp unit starts from £48,995.
