New tool helps drivers calculate cost of car journeys

Drivers can now calculate how much specific journeys would cost in current and future cars using a new tool.

The new Motors.co.uk tool uses MPG and fuel prices to calculate the cost of specific trips.

Developed by car search firm Motors.co.uk, the interactive Fuel Calculator uses Miles Per Gallon (MPG) and fuel prices to show the cost of trips, with users able to compare to three different makes and models of cars. It also incorporates Google Maps to give users a clear view of their journey, displaying the fastest route.

Visitors looking for their next car can use Fuel Calculator and Motors.co.uk’s innovative search tools to then find fuel efficient vehicle that suits their lifestyle.

Dermot Kelleher, director of marketing and business intelligence at Motors.co.uk, said: “When creating the new Fuel Calculator, we focused on dimensionalising the difference in fuel efficiency between different vehicles in a way that was meaningful to consumers, moving the conversation from abstract miles per gallon metrics to much more significant cost per journey ones.

“By allowing them to compare the cost of their journeys between their current vehicle and a potential new one we believe we have created another great way to help them find the right car for them.”
