New smartphone-based safety solution can cut collision rates by 25%

Brightmile has launched a new smartphone-based driver safety solution to provide fleets with a smarter way to manage real-time driver risk – including for the grey fleet.

Dominic Saunders, CEO at Brightmile

Backed by AXA Insurance’s Kamet Ventures, the Brightmile solution has already been shown to reduce collision rates by 25% and cut fuel consumption by 10% in pilots.

The solution uses smartphone sensors to assess and coach drivers on ‘Five Pillars’ of safe driving behaviour (Risk, Speeding, Smartphone Distraction, Fatigue and Eco).

Safe drivers are rewarded with ‘brightmiles’ that can be exchanged for Amazon vouchers or converted into donations to Brake – Brightmile’s charity partner – gamifying safe driving and engaging drivers to change their behaviour.

The resultant data also provides fleet managers with actionable insight on fleet risk trends, risky drivers and areas for intervention, and there is the potential to automate tailored e-training modules to drivers based on their performance.

Dominic Saunders, CEO at Brightmile, said: “We are excited to bring Brightmile to the market and deliver an innovative solution to help companies mitigate what is often their greatest unmanaged risk. We are also delighted to support Brake with our charitable donations – we share a common goal to help drivers get home safely and so this is a natural fit. Brightmile’s approach is to reward safe driving and we believe that giving drivers the opportunity to exchange brightmiles for donations to Brake will encourage better driving and make our roads safer for everyone.”
