New Nissan Juke Hybrid: Price and specs revealed

By / 2 years ago / Latest News / 1 Comment

The Nissan Juke is now available with a new hybrid powertrain, delivering improved efficiency and lower emissions.

The Nissan Juke Hybrid is said to represent another milestone on the carmaker’s ambition to have a fully electrified range by 2023

Arriving three years after the launch of the current generation, it’s said to represent another milestone on the carmaker’s ambition to have a fully electrified range by 2023 and will be sold alongside the existing Juke line-up.

Prices for the hybrid model start at £27,250 – up by £1,730 compared to the equivalent non-hybrid automatic version – rising to £30,150 for the top-spec Tekna +.

The powertrain is said to provide an EV experience and bring responsive acceleration, refined cruising and efficient low emissions in a ‘best-of-all worlds’ approach.

It draws on Nissan’s Alliance with Renault and combines a new-generation 94hp 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 49hp electric motor, both supplied by Nissan, with a 15kW high-voltage starter/generator, gearbox and a 1.2kWh water-cooled battery from Renault. It’s married up with a clutchless multi-mode gearbox, which provides four ‘ICE’ gears and two ‘EV’ gears.

Total output is 143hp and 0-62mph is 10.1 seconds, while initial tests indicate a combined WLTP fuel consumption of 55.4-56.5mpg with CO2 of 114-115g/km.

The new hybrid models come with Nissan’s e-Pedal Step, which enables one-pedal driving and will slow the car down to a crawl when the driver’s foot is lifted from the accelerator.

The powertrain starts up in electric mode every time and has been set up for maximum use of the electric mode without driver input; drivers can also activate EV operator when required at a touch of a button.

The hybrids are marked out from the rest of the range with a new front grille mesh design, which also optimises efficiency, and hybrid badging. They also gain from the recent updates to the wider range, such as two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels, a more aerodynamic rear spoiler, improved Bose Personal Plus audio system now with 10 speakers and improved keyless entry.

Four trims are offered – spanning N-Conneca, Tekna, Tekna + and a limited Premiere Edition, which arrives first and is on sale already. It’s based on an N-Connecta hybrid but adds in more racy design features such as 19-inch gloss black wheels, black-tinted headlamps and updates to the interior, including leather detailing and illuminated kickplates.

Deliveries of the Premiere Edition start from July.

I don’t understand why manafacturers still are producing mild hybrid vehicles. They will achieve zero company sales in the UK which, surely, is their most significant market!
