At the awards, which once again took place at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, BMW actually scooped four titles, with the 1 Series gaining the Premium Lower Medium title, the 3 Series being awarded within the Compact Executive section and the X1 taking the Premium Crossover title.

Commenting on the carmaker’s Fleet Manufacturer of the Year accolade, the judges said: “BMW’s model line-up remains incredibly attractive to business customers, with revisions to 3 Series making it more competitive, 1 Series now an extremely strong proposition and new 7 Series a superb luxury car. But its cars being excellent is almost a given.

“What makes BMW our manufacturer of the year is the investment and work going on behind the scenes in Corporate Sales: a significantly expanding sales team, new divisions for looking after specific fleet sectors, groundbreaking new leasing programmes and enhanced specification with company car drivers in mind. It all proves that BMW understands and cares about the fleet market, and does its job superbly.”
