Hyundai has revealed pricing and specs for its new i30 Tourer, which brings a £1,540 reduction in entry-level pricing as well as a reduced premium compared to the hatchback.

Debuted at the Geneva Motor Show, the latest i30 Tourer is priced from £17,495 on the road compared to £19,035 for the outgoing model despite the introduction of a claimed best-in-class standard safety package as well as new equipment and engines. As a result, the price premium compared to the hatch falls to £500 from £1,500 on the previous generation models.

In line with the price reductions and the model’s increased specification, the new Tourer is expected to take around 20% of total i30 sales – compared to just over 10% for previous-generation models.

Engine line-up covers two petrol engines – including Hyundai’s new 138bhp 1.4 T-GDI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and a new 118bhp three-cylinder 1.0 T-GDI only available on lower trims – along with a 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine with 108bhp or 134bhp from SE trim upwards.

Luggage space stands at 602 litres rising to 1,650 litres with the rear seats lowered and all Tourers bring standard equipment including a cargo screen and safety barrier net.

Five trim levels are offered – S, SE, SE Nav, Premium and Premium SE – with all models featuring DAB and Bluetooth while standard safety equipment includes Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Collision Warning System, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Hill Start Assist Control.

The new i30 Tourer goes on sale from 6 July.
