New e-Niro gets enhanced specification as supplies ramp up

Kia is introducing new equipment to the e-Niro as it also commits to clearing the backlog of orders over the coming months.

Kia has said it’ll clear the e-Niro order backlog during the first six months of 2020, with more supply promised for the second half of the year

Launched in April as the brand’s second global fully electric vehicle, the e-Niro was originally offered in a single ‘First Edition’ model, priced at £32,995 after the Plug-in Car Grant and bringing a WLTP range of 282 miles. A total of 900 units were allocated to the UK, all of which sold out within a month, leading to customer frustration but also helping to build the brand’s presence according to Kia.

For 2020, the carmaker is introducing a new, higher-spec ‘e-Niro 4’ model to replace as the First Edition as it also promises sufficient supply to clear the existing 3,000 customer waiting list during the first six months of the year, with even more supply promised during the second half.

Priced at £34,495 (after PiCG; up £1,500), the new e-Niro benefits from LED headlights, battery heating system and an enhanced cabin package featuring 10.25-inch touchscreen satellite navigation, telematics system with UVO Connect Services and ambient lighting.

Interior features include black leather upholstery, heated front seats and heated steering wheel, an electronic parking brake with autohold, automatic air con, adaptive smart cruise control with stop and go, a smart entry system with engine start and stop button, wireless mobile phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, an eight-speaker JBL premium sound system and DAB radio.

Advanced driver safety features include lane follow assist, lane keep assist system, forward collision-avoidance assist and hill-start assist control as standard.

Customers not on the existing waiting list can order the car at dealerships now for delivery from the start of July next year while Kia’s new Soul EV arrives in March.
