New DfT funding to help SMEs switch to e-cargo bikes
New funding is available from the Department for Transport to help businesses introduce e-cargo bikes.
First launched in 2019, the eCargo Bike Grant Fund covers up to 40% of the total cost of investing in e-cargo bikes, with a maximum of £2,500 for two-wheel models and £4,500 for three-wheel models.
The latest £400k funding round is being made available following the success of the first round of the grant, which is administered by the Energy Saving Trust and available to all businesses operating in England.
Applications are open until 14 December 2021 and the scheme now provides the option of joint ‘high-street’ applications, giving SMEs the option to pool their resources into one application.
Tim Anderson, group head of transport, Energy Saving Trust, said: “eCargo bikes are an attractive low carbon transport option and are growing in popularity for local deliveries and business operations. The eCargo Bike Grant Fund will provide businesses with an excellent opportunity to make lasting changes to how they transport goods.”
