New app blocks mobile calls, emails & texts behind the wheel
Dubbed Driver Distraction Prevention (DDP), the app can be installed on employees’ phones and will cut off and block all voice calls and lock the keypad to prevent any texting (or emailing) less than one minute after the start of a business journey. Employees will receive an announcement via their phone if there is missed message requiring them to stop in a safe place and take the message.
In addition the app offers a set of reports that can:
- Analyse speeding by comparing actual speed with the speed limit on the roads the employee has driven on.
- Monitor any fatigue, based on employees driving for too long without a break or driving on business after working for too long.
The DDP app has been developed by Romex World, which provides end-to-end employee tracking solutions delivered via a PDA, Smartphone or Tablet, and can be implemented quickly and easily, without any need to install any hardware in any vehicles.
The Driver Distraction Prevention has been developed as a bolt-on to the company’s core Mobile Workforce Management app, which provides mapping and reporting, and can be added to with a Lone Worker Protection module that provides real-time monitoring and welfare checks for remote and lone workers. The DDP and Lone Worker modules can also be supplied as stand-alone systems.
The new DDP app works on most Smartphones – Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile and Symbian – with the Apple version due for release within the next month.
