MPG Marathon turns to TRACKER for vehicle monitoring and tracking
The MPG Marathon is the UK’s most demanding, high-profile economy driving event in which competitors must follow a fixed, 380-mile route over two days from 3rd – 4th October.
TRACKER Fleet will provide the organizers with the ability to ensure that all competitors in the event have stayed on course and not deviated from the prescribed route in order to gain an advantage. TRACKER Fleet’s sophisticated monitoring system will also provide real-time information on driver and vehicle performance, allowing supporters of the event to follow each competitor’s progress every inch of the way.
MPG Marathon event organizer, Ross Durkin said: ‘It’s great for the event to have such a well known and high-profile name as TRACKER involved in this year’s MPG Marathon.
‘It is vital for us to know exactly where every competing vehicle is at any time over the two-day period, and to be able to replay the exact route that the driver has taken. It is also valuable to be able to get information on vehicle speed and the style of driving as this has a massive impact on both fuel consumption and safety,’ he added.
Stephen Doran (Inset), managing director for TRACKER added: ‘We are thrilled to be involved in the MPG Marathon, using our latest innovations in fleet monitoring to fully monitor and understand the performance of drivers. By observing driver behavior, and fundamentally, that behavior in relation to their location, we can better appreciate how they are progressing’”
The MPG Marathon takes place on Weds 3rd and Thurs 4th October, based near Cirencester. The winners will be announced on Friday 5th October and prizes will be presented to the winners by Transport Minister, the Rt. Hon. Norman Baker MP at a special ceremony to be held at The Royal Automobile Club on Wednesday 10th October.
