Motor auctions are subject of first VRA ‘Focus on…’ webinar

Motor auctions are the first subject to be covered by a series of ‘Focus on…’ webinars being held by the Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA).

Marshall Leasing operates a fleet of over 8,000 vehicles with a net book value of approximately £100m and following a review of its pool fleet management service, it has opted to outsource the process to CD Auction Group

The first VRA ‘Focus on…’ webinar will explore motor auctions and the pre- and post-pandemic picture

Taking place at 10:00 am on Wednesday 8 September, the event will include James Buxton, COO at Carzam, as keynote speaker. Buxton will bring a customer perspective of working with auctions, including the pre- and post-pandemic picture.

His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion featuring speakers from leading auction companies that are VRA members. These include Richard Cross, sales director, Aston Barclay; Matt Dale, co-owner and director, G3 Remarketing; and Ian Nicholls, area general manager, Manheim Auctions. They will look at current issues and opportunities facing motor auctions, as well as the future of the sector.

At least two more Focus on… webinars are planned before the end of the year, covering transport and logistics, and vehicle reconditioning. Each is planned to last around 45 minutes.

Philip Nothard, chair at the VRA, said: “This new, short series of seminars is designed to look in-depth at both recent developments and the years ahead for some of the key sectors within remarketing.

“Starting with auctions seems appropriate. Perhaps no other part of the VRA has been so radically affected by different aspects of the pandemic, yet appears to be emerging in a position of relative strength.

“Both James Buxton’s presentation and the panel discussion should be highly informative and I am sure that our members will find the webinar extremely useful.”
