Minicabster announces part-takeover of rival minicab app, Bounce

The service has taken over a number of Bounce’s clients and their app after the company ceased trading last month as part of its plans for growth.

The Bounce app enabled users to book their nearest TfL-licensed minicab, with a firm focus on quality control and guaranteed low prices and will now be switched over to the new Minicabster app, which can be used to access to its network of more than 10,000 licensed minicabs nationwide.

Irshad Khan, business lead and head of technology at Minicabster, said: “Running a tech business in the competitive minicab space has been a challenge over the last year, but we’re thrilled to be the first European cab tech company to buy a competitor’s assets in this way. It’s been a turbulent few years for the industry as a whole, with many disruptive new apps hitting the market, but we are always pushing for new ways in which we can take the lead within the minicab sector. I see more mergers and acquisitions taking place in the near future, as Minicabster continues to foster innovation in this fast-evolving industry.”

Sadie Gee, Business Lead at Minicabster, added: “The part-acquisition is really exciting news for us here at Minicabster, and we’d like to warmly welcome all existing Bounce passengers to our service. We’re proud of our record on punctuality and reliability, and our consistently high standards of customer service will ensure that the transition from Bounce to Minicabster will be a seamless one for all passengers.”
