Mercedes-Benz unveils C-Class Coupe

By / 9 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Set to make its debut at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the Coupé joins the saloon and estate models launched last year, with a Cabriolet version due in 2016. Bringing a similar front-end to the saloon, the Coupé features the diamond radiator grille and long bonnet along with frameless doors with free-standing exterior mirrors.

Built on the Mercedes-Benz MRA (modular rear architecture) platform, the C-Class Coupé features an 80mm longer wheelbase and is 95mm longer and 40mm wider, with the increased dimensions bringing extra space for the driver and front passenger plus more shoulder room, elbow room and headroom in all seats.

The new model also weighs less to its predecessor thanks to its intelligent lightweight construction with a higher proportion of aluminium.

Like the saloon, the new Coupé also brings a new four-link front axle with wheel suspension decoupled from the spring strut and multi-link independent rear suspension with five links but sits 15mm lower than the saloon.

The Coupé comes with steel suspension as standard and offers a two-mode adaptive damping system. Optional air suspension is available.

Engine line-up will initially offer four petrol engine variants, starting with a 154bhp 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine in the C180 and also including the 181bhp C200 and 208bhp C250 models and the 245bhp 2.0-litre C300.

The diesel line-up will comprise 168bhp and 201bhp 2.1-litre four-cylinder units.

Standard safety and assistance technology will include solutions based on the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive concept, including Attention Assist, which can warn the driver of inattentiveness and drowsiness, as well as the Collision Prevention Assist Plus AEB system.

Other assistance systems include the Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control system with Steering Assist and Stop&Go Pilot, the BAS PLUS Brake Assist System and Enhanced Active Lane Keeping Assist.

The new C-Class Coupé also offers range of free Standard Services and Remote Online Services available as part of the "Mercedes connect me" package. Standard Services include automatic emergency call (eCall), Accident Recovery, breakdown assistance and after-sales service. The Remote Online services (standard with COMAND online and usable free of charge for the first three years) allow access to vehicle information at all times. There is also a Vehicle Tracker function, remote door locking and unlocking, and remote auxiliary heating activation and deactivation.
