Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLS get new engines

Mercedes-Benz has expanded the E-Class and CLS line-ups with new petrol and diesel engines.

The E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet ranges now get a new E 450 4Matic petrol to replace the former E 400 4Matic. The inline six-cylinder petrol engine already seen in the CLS 450 4Matic uses EQ Boost 48V starter-generator mild hybrid technology and offers 362bhp with an extra 22bhp available from the EQ Boost technology. Prices start at £50,900 for the Coupé and £55,395 for the Cabriolet.

Mercedes-Benz has also launched the CLS 350 with an all-new four-cylinder petrol engine capable of producing 295bhp and using EQ Boost technology to provide a further 14hp. The CLS 350 starts at £52,625.

Mercedes has also replaced the E 350 d with the new 335bhp E 400 d 4Matic 3.0-litre inline diesel engine for the Coupé and Cabriolet. The same unit is also being used for the E-Class All-Terrain, priced from £64,445.
