Both new appointments are engineering graduates and have extensive experience in the field.

Consolati began his career as a developer in a networks and telecommunications consultancy company, before taking up his post at TomTom in 2005 where he held a series of senior-level leadership roles.

In his new role he will be chartered with driving operational excellence across R&D, with responsibility for programme and release management, quality assurance and key customer support channels.

Wavish joins from Accenture where he was running large global delivery programs from sites in Europe and Asia. He previously held a number of senior positions at Racal before joining Symbian in 2000 where he led large scale mobile phone programmes for customers including Nokia, Samsung and Siemens.

At Masternaut, Wavish is tasked with managing the portfolio of strategic custom development and system integration programmes, which Masternaut says is a key growth area for the company in the larger, enterprise, customer space.

Both will report to Masternaut’s chief technology officer, Alex Rothwell, who joined the company in April last year.

Martin Hiscox, chairman and CEO of Masternaut, said: ‘Coming from a series of senior leadership positions, Nicola joins Masternaut with extensive experience heading-up large development teams, while Simon brings with him the experience to further bolster Masternaut’s ability to deliver large-scale enterprise solutions. We’re delighted to welcome them into what is the largest telematics R&D team in Europe.’
