The report is expected to have far-reaching consequences for insurers, lawyers and health and safety professionals, who will be given the opportunity to debate the report's findings with Lord Young and other industry experts at the event.

Gerard Forlin QC and David Smith, managing director of Zurich Insurance, UK Broker Division, will also speak at the event, followed by an open debate.

The event is being organised by Cardinus Risk Management, in conjunction with International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).

Jon Abbott, managing director – ergonomics and safety, of Cardinus Risk Management, said: 'This is an exciting time for our industry. The Prime Minister has spoken about health and safety and the subject goes to the very heart of government. This event is about promoting thought leadership and represents a unique opportunity to engage with government, understand its aims and work together to ensure the UK continues to be one of the safest countries in the world to work in.'

Brian Nimick, chief executive, IIRSM, added: 'We look forward to meeting with members from the risk management, health and safety and insurance industries. Ultimately this will help stimulate debate following the Lord Young report and ensure that we, as a country, continue to advance standards in accident prevention and occupational health.'

The event takes place on Monday 25 October in the Great Hall of the Chartered Insurance Institute in London.
