LeasePlan marks EV milestone with new fleet incentive

By / 10 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Dubbed “Take a Leaf Out of Our Book”, the initiative will see the firm make a number of Nissan LEAFS available to clients for a ‘risk-free’ three-month trial period from 1st June 2014.

The initiative is designed to showcase the benefits of EVs to clients and will also encourage drivers to provide detailed feedback on performance throughout the trial period.

The launch comes as LeasePlan reaches the milestone of 150 pure electric vehicles on fleet. The vehicles have been adopted by a wide range of high-profile LeasePlan clients, including local authorities in Scotland and utility companies.

The firm said that support for EVs and other “green” vehicles appears to be building once more, with the Government’s recent announcement of a £500m funding allocation to support the use and development of ultra low emission vehicles in the UK between 2015 and 2020.

Figures released yesterday by the SMMT show that sales of pure electric vehicles have risen three-fold for the first four months of the year.

Ian Marson, strategy director at LeasePlan, said: ‘LeasePlan has long championed electric vehicles, and we’ve been leading the charge in promoting their adoption across our client fleets. This initiative will allow us to show exactly why we believe these vehicles can be such a great addition to a fleet, and hopefully we’ll dispel some electric vehicle myths along the way.

‘Greener fleets are the future and the move to ultra low emission vehicles has the potential to have huge environmental and financial benefits for the user, and indeed the wider population.’
