Kia ties up with BP Chargemaster and Pod Point for home charging solutions

Kia is offering its EV and PHEV drivers preferential terms on home charge points under new tie-ups with BP Chargemaster and Pod Point.

The BP Chargemaster partnership also includes the provision of two years’ free Polar Plus membership

The partnerships enable drivers to benefit from reduced costs for charge point installations from both providers. The charge points come with a three-year warranty and smart functionality – enabling drivers to benefit from cheaper charging rates on applicable tariffs – along with access to a free app to manage charging.

BP Chargemaster is also offering new customers two years’ free membership of the Polar Plus network. The Polar Plus subscription – which normally costs £188 for two years – allows customers to access free or discounted charging at over 7,000 charge points across the United Kingdom.

Kia currently offers a wide range of fully electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, but is also fast ramping up its product offering under the Plan S strategy outlined earlier this year – which looks to reach a 25% share of its sales from “eco-friendly” vehicles by the end of 2025. By this date it will offer 11 fully electric vehicles, including the Sorento PHEV, due 2021.

David Hilbert, marketing director at Kia Motors UK, said: “With our range of PHEV and full BEVs growing at such a rate, it’s important that our customers have access to quality charging solutions at home to ensure they are making the best use of their vehicles, being able to charge frequently, quickly and economically. With Pod Point and BP Chargemaster, we believe we have an attractive proposition to complement our range of class-leading plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.”
