Jardine Lloyd Thompson introduces Fleet Hire salary sacrifice car scheme for own employees

JLT is one of the world's leading providers of insurance, reinsurance and employee benefits-related advice, brokerage and associated services. One of the employee benefits it recommends to UK clients is the salary sacrifice car scheme from Car Salary Exchange, the car benefit brand of Solihull-based contract hire, fleet management and salary sacrifice provider Fleet Hire.

And, at the end of last year, the company took the decision to introduce a Car Salary Exchange car scheme for its UK workforce of around 4,100 eligible employees.

The car benefit scheme has been running for around three months, in which time some 775 staff have registered their interest in the scheme, representing more than 18% of the entire eligible employee workforce.

And in the first quarter of this year, there has been around a 1% take-up with some 50 new car orders placed on the system and around 28,000 quotations generated.

Around 4,000 new cars are available to JLT employees through the scheme, and they can generate quotes online via the Car Salary Exchange online quotation platform, which is available from desktop computers, tablets or mobile phones. They are also able to compare up to three models side-by-side on-screen to help make their decision all the easier.

Caroline Jordan, benefits manager at JLT, commented: “We are delighted with the initial interest received for the scheme which offers a wide choice of low CO2-emitting cars up to a carbon cap of 130g/km. To date, the average CO2 of vehicles ordered has been 102g/km.

“What has proved particularly pleasing is how well the Car Salary Exchange team planned and coordinated the pre-launch benefit seminars at our London headquarters and various regional offices. The feedback from our employees has been very positive as to the content and visually informative style of the communication.”

Graham Hale, chief executive of Fleet Hire, added: “We are delighted to be providing one of our salary sacrifice car schemes to JLT, one of our key benefits partners. Their decision to opt for one of our schemes for their own employees has been a glowing endorsement of our product and one we are naturally very pleased with.”
