International Motors agrees takeover of Mitsubishi UK aftersales business

International Motors has confirmed it will take over Mitsubishi UK’s aftersales business from long-term importer, the Colt Car Company this autumn.

International Motors will operate the Mitsubishi Motors in the UK branded aftersales business from 1 October 2021

The deal, first revealed this spring, will see International Motors operate the Mitsubishi Motors in the UK branded aftersales business from 1 October 2021, from which point it’s expected that most current Mitsubishi UK dealers will switch to become Mitsubishi Service Centres.

The move comes after Mitsubishi announced in summer 2020 that it was freezing the development and introduction of new models for Europe including the UK.

International Motors – the current official UK importer for Subaru and Isuzu vehicles – said the addition of the Mitsubishi Motors in the UK aftersales business represents an opportunity to grow its parts and accessories operation.

It added that Mitsubishi drivers will see no difference in the standards of service they receive in the UK.

The Mitsubishi UK aftersales business will operate independently within IM Group from its current base in Cirencester and will be staffed by the existing Mitsubishi aftersales team members, headed up by Toby Marshall who has been a director at Mitsubishi Motors in the UK for over 12 years.

Andrew Edmiston, managing director, IM Group, commented: “In this new era of ownership by IM Group, a company with customer service at its heart, customers can expect no less commitment from their Mitsubishi dealer than they have experienced in the past. We will ensure all Mitsubishi dealers have the support they need to continue to deliver this. IM Group are pleased and proud to represent Mitsubishi Motors in the UK.”

Already, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has launched a new Service Activated Roadside Assistance programme (SARA), which provides Mitsubishi customers with free breakdown and recovery assistance for 12 months when a vehicle is serviced at an authorised Mitsubishi dealership.

It’s applicable for vehicles 3-10 years old and up to 100k miles and will provide free home, road and European assistance for 12 months, or until the next service, when a customer has their Mitsubishi vehicle serviced at a participating authorised Mitsubishi dealership.
