Integrated camera systems could become industry standard, says Trakm8 chairman

The company has been offering RoadHawk dash-cams to customers alongside its telematics solutions since acquiring the Cornish camera company in June of this year.

Chairman of the Trakm8 Group, John Watkins said: “Our confident understanding of the industry and the potential posed by the integration of camera technology with telematics was the main contributing factor behind the DCS Systems acquisition. Since the acquisition, the complimentary effect that RoadHawk has on our fleet management solutions has certainly been reiterated, with our customers now benefiting from an increasingly holistic view of driver behaviour.

“Those who choose to use Trakm8 solutions now have the ability to utilise high definition video footage in conjunction with the rich data provided by our telematics solutions. The wealth of data provided to drivers with integrated telematics and RoadHawk solutions, can play an essential role in staying protected against false allegations and staged accidents such as ‘crash for cash’ fraud schemes.

“This type of integrated technology will almost certainly play a pivotal role in the industry going forward and it would come as no surprise to me if integrated systems become industry standard in the not too distant future.”
