Infiniti reveals new Q60 sports coupe at Detroit

Providing a rival to models such as the Mercedes C-Class Coupe and BMW 4 Series, the flagship Q60– which effectively replaces the G37 – will “play an important role in the brand’s global growth and re-ignite its presence in the premium sports coupe segment”, said Infiniti.

The Q60 is powered by a 400bhp 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine from the new ‘VR’ powertrain family.

The line-up also includes a 208bhp four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol engine. Both engines features rear-wheel biased optional intelligent All Wheel Drive (AWD) and are married up to a seven-speed automatic.

An all-new electronic suspension system, Dynamic Digital Suspension, comes as standard on the Q60 3.0-litre V6 engine versions and allows the driver to tailor settings.

The Q60 also features the brand’s second-generation Direct Adaptive Steering, which is standard on Sport models, while the Drive Mode Selector tailors steering settings in line with six available options: ‘Customise’, ‘Standard’, ‘Snow’, ‘Eco’, ‘Sport’, and – new for certain models – ‘Sport+’.

Design features include 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, with optional 20-inch wheels also available in some markets and marking a first for the brand. Q60 models with the new V6 engine also feature an Active Grille Shutter.

The Q60 is equipped as standard with Infiniti’s InTuition central control system, the latest generation of the company’s infotainment set-up, which allows occupants to personalise interior settings according to their preferences.

Infiniti’s comprehensive approach to safety is evident throughout the Q60 premium sports coupe, instilling confidence in the driver and their passengers. The active and passive safety technologies include: Around View Monitor, Intelligent Cruise Control with Distance Control Assist, Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Braking system, Lane Departure Prevention, Blind Spot Intervention and Backup Collision Intervention.

The new Infiniti Q60 sports coupe will go on sale in selected markets in the second half of 2016.
