Honda CR-V goes hybrid-only

Honda’s CR-V hybrid is to go hybrid-only for the 2021 model year, dropping the current petrol options and gaining revised styling and equipment.

The hybrid-only CR-V gets new e:HEV branding to align it with the rest of Honda’s electrified range

Priced from £30,180 and on sale from the start of December, the revised CR-V shows its new hybrid-only status by carrying the new e:HEV branding announced a year ago under the brand’s accelerated electrification plans and debuted on the new hybrid-only Jazz.

The i-MMD hybrid powertrain is carried over and uses two electric motors, an Atkinson-cycle petrol engine and a fixed-gear transmission, giving official WLTP CO2 emissions of 151g/km and fuel economy of 42.2mpg on front-wheel drive models, and 161g/km and 39.2mpg for all-wheel drive models.

Alongside its new e:HEV branding, the CR-V also gets new 18-inch alloys across all trims and privacy glass from SE models upwards. The range-topping EX model also gains wireless smartphone charging for improved seamless connectivity while all version now receive a new silver finish for various parts of the cabin.

The suspension has also been tweaked and is said to have improve linear handling responses and enhanced ride, while the steering has been refined for improved low-speed manoeuvrability.

Rebecca Stead, head of automobile at Honda UK, commented: “The CR-V is such an iconic part of Honda’s range and history it is only fitting that the revised 2021 model is ready to take on a changing and challenging market place, equipped with the latest technologies and equipment to make consumer’s lives that little bit easier.”
