HMRC publishes latest advisory fuel rates
HMRC has announced latest advisory fuel rates, which take effect from 1 December 2019 and introduce changes for LPG and diesel company car drivers.
Under the latest set of rates, petrol pence per mile (ppm) figures stay the same but the rate for diesels with an engine size of 1600cc or less falls by 1ppm to 9ppm. Meanwhile there is also a similar reduction for LPG-fuelled cars with 1401cc to 2000cc engines, with the rate again standing at 9ppm now. No other changes have been levied at this time.
The new tables are as follows (old rates in brackets):
Engine size | Petrol – amount per mile | LPG – amount per mile |
---|---|---|
1400cc or less | 12 pence (12p) | 8 pence (8p) |
1401cc to 2000cc | 14 pence (14p) | 9 pence (10p) |
Over 2000cc | 21 pence (21p) | 14 pence (14p) |
Engine size | Diesel – amount per mile |
---|---|
1600cc or less | 9 pence (10p) |
1601cc to 2000cc | 11 pence (11p) |
Over 2000cc | 14 pence (14p) |
As before, hybrid cars are to be treated as petrol or diesel vehicles, while the electric vehicle rate remains at 4ppm. Rates for plug-in hybrids are still conspicuous by their absence despite repeated industry calls for them, in order to help ensure PHEVs are correctly used.
