The week-long survey was held by the comparison website TrackCompare.co.uk. Asked "Is the 2014 Budget good fo ryour business?", 52% of respondents said yes.

Kjell Anderton, a TrackCompare director, said: ‘This budget was very much a give and take affair, so the results are in line with our expectations and the comments received from our cost-conscious customers.

‘Of course, cancellation of September’s fuel duty increase and the higher rate tax threshold rise were both warmly welcomed.

‘Also, the £200m for a pothole fund was a pleasant surprise, particularly in light of a recent TrackCompare poll which found almost 45% of UK fleets had vehicles damaged by potholes over the winter.

‘Needless to say, the 2% company car tax hike didn’t go down at all well.'
