H1 sales soar at Skoda

For the first six months of the year, the brand recorded sales of 454,700 vehicles while sales were also up 14% in June, with 81,300 vehicles sold compared to 71,3000 in June 2010.

Sales in the domestic market of the Czech Republic remained positive, with 5,400 vehicles delivered in June 2011.

Results were also strong in the other markets of Central and Eastern Europe in June. In the Ukraine sales increased 64.8% while Poland rose 9.1%, and Slovenia 52%.

Across Western Europe, sales were up 11.1%. Growth markets include Belgium, with an increase of 48.2%, and in the Netherlands, with an increase of 38.8%. In Denmark, sales rose 15.8% and in Switzerland 13.2%. In the UK, the brand is set to see its most successful year ever, with more than 24,000 vehicles delivered to customers in the first half of 2011 and registrations up by almost 20% in June.

Skoda also reported growth in the emerging markets, setting a new record in China for H1 2011, with 112,200 sold vehicles. Deliveries were also up 25.8 in June 2011.

In Russia, Skoda set its best monthly sales result ever in June, with an increase of 33.6% and more than 7,000 sold vehicles. Sales were also up almost 50% in India in June, with 2,300 deliveries.

Jürgen Stackmann, Skoda board member for sales and marketing, said: ‘In the first half of the year, Skoda has performed well in all areas of the business and in all regions. In the first six months, we have succeeded in implementing our growth strategy, which began last year, in impressive style and we are seeing some strong Skoda. We are growing rapidly and have created an outstanding basis for further growth. Skoda will introduce a number of new models over the coming years, helping markets to grow significantly.’
