GreenRoad to work with Towergate to help reduce driver risk

Towergate Underwriting Transportation has teamed up with GreenRoad to promote the benefits of the firm's driver safety and fuel-economy service to its insurance clients.

The move is intended to help clients to cut their accident claims rate and negotiate more favourable insurance premiums. It will also provide Towergate with new data on drivers' risk and safety levels that will help develop more effective risk management strategies and tailored insurance offerings.

The move follows the signing of similar partnerships with Zurich, Marsh, Belmont and Admiral.

Eric Shishko, senior vice president, Global Insurance at GreenRoad, remarked: 'Our new partnership with Towergate added to Marsh, Zurich, Belmont, and Admiral demonstrate it is now a standard to use technology to provide a tangible business benefit like lower insurance rates based on lower risk. These industry pioneers have found a way to enhance their relationship with their clients and build loyalty in an often fickle market.'

Towergate has already signed up seven customers to use GreenRoad's services including Transworld Logistics (TWL), which is a key supplier to UPS and TNT. TWL is installing GreenRoad's service in 125 delivery vans by the summer 2011. During a pilot project, TWL saw a 45% improvement in safety as soon as it started giving drivers feedback through GreenRoad's service.
