Pontin will lead the existing team of car editors in continuing to provide accurate and reliable valuation data for companies operating in the UK car market.

He will also be responsible for increasing Glass’s profile to dealers, manufacturers, leasing companies and industry bodies.

Pontin brings 27 years of experience in management, valuation and strategic remarketing of new and used vehicles, having worked for British Car Auctions, Car Shop and running his own independent used car retail business.

‘Having spent many years working in the used car market, Glass’s is an obvious next step for me,’ said Pontin.

‘It’s an instantly recognisable brand, and I really believe that the data and insight we provide to the industry can make a positive impact on our customers businesses. I’m looking forward to working with the team to raise the profile of what Glass’s can offer.’

Director of valuations and analysis, Richard Parkin, commented: ‘This is an exciting and challenging time for Glass’s. Working in a fast paced and ever developing market means we must be committed to working closely with our customers to provide solutions that really support their business.

‘With the launch of G2 and Radar last year, and an ever developing portfolio of products in the pipeline, our vision is to be the market leader in automotive data. We believe Rupert’s industry knowledge and expertise will help us achieve that vision.’
