Geneva Motor Show: Peugeot to premiere 308 SW, 108 & new engine tech

By / 10 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The carmaker’s stand will include the new 308 SW, which goes on sale from April and offers a large boot volume including underfloor storage, a light and spacious cabin, a modular seating concept and exceptional practicality.

Built on the new PSA EMP2 platform that’s underpinning other new models including the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, the model offers dimensions among the best in the class along with a 140kg weight reduction compared to its predecessor.

There’s also a 1.69 m2 glass roof and the Peugeot i-Cockpit seen on the hatchback, which brings a compact steering wheel, high level instrument panel, tall centre console and a 9.7-inch touchscreen.

The carmaker’s show line-up also includes the 108 city car, revealed last Friday 14th February, which goes on sale at the start of July and brings a retractable fabric roof bodystyle to the line-up for the first time as well as emissions from 88g/km.

Also on the stand will be the new 1.2-litre 110 and 130bhp PureTech e-THP three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines, which use high pressure direct injection and a next-generation high-efficiency turbo to provide the best low speed torque/maximum power in the market according to the brand, with 95% available between 1,500 and 3,500rpm. Peugeot adds that fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are reduced by 21%, compared to engines of equivalent power and driveability.

The brand is also unveiling its new BlueHDi diesel emissions technology, to appear on several versions of PEUGEOT 308, 308 SW and 508. This teams up Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and a particulate filter with additive, reducing NOx emissions from e-HDi engines by up to 90%, and optimising CO2 emissions and fuel consumption while still eliminating 99.9% of particulates. The BlueHDi technology meets the Euro6 emissions standard and will be progressively introduced on all Peugeot’s diesel models.

Also on the stand will be 28 production vehicles and concept cars, including the RCZ R Sports Coupé, which is powered by a 1.6-litre THP turbocharged petrol engine developing 270bhp.
