Genesis reveals UK pricetags for G80 and GV80

Genesis has revealed that its G80 saloon and GV80 SUV will be priced from £37,460 and £56,715 respectively when they launch in the UK this summer.

Pricing for the GV80 SUV begins at £56,715 while the G80 saloon starts from £37,460

Hyundai’s premium offshoot announced earlier this month that it is to launch in Europe this summer, focused on delivering Korean luxury to lure customers away.

While electric vehicles and Europe-dedicated product will arrive soon, the line-up will initially bring over the brand’s existing G80 saloon and GV80 SUV models; rivalling the likes of the BMW 5 Series and X5, and followed soon after by G70 and GV70 models, comparable to the 3 Series and X3.

Genesis says the introduction of the flagship G80 and GV80 will give UK and European customers a strong indication of what to expect from the Korean luxury brand, including distinctive design, claimed best-in-class safety and state-of-the-art technology, as well as customer service said to be unrivalled, with Genesis Personal Assistants to guide customers through the buying and ownership experience. The brand’s ‘we come to you’ promise also provides home or office delivery and collection, removing the need to visit dealers.

The G80 saloon will be offered either with a 2.2-litre diesel with eight-speed auto and rear-wheel drive or as a 2.5-litre petrol, with the same eight-speed auto but with all-wheel drive.

The GV80 SUV will offer a choice of 2.5-litre petrol or 3.0-litre diesel; both with eight-speed auto and all-wheel drive, and available across the five- and seven-seater models.

Two trims will be available for the G80 and GV80: Premium Line and Luxury Line. Details of specs are yet to be announced.

All models will come with the Genesis Five-Year Care Plan, covering warranty, servicing, roadside assistance, courtesy car, mapping and over-the-air software updates.

Dominique Boesch, managing director of Genesis Motor Europe, said: “The G80 and GV80 are the two flagship models that have been carefully selected to introduce the Genesis brand to our UK customers. Both models showcase the ‘Genesis difference’ – customers can expect to be impressed not only by the design and safety of the vehicles; but also by our service offering which provides convenience and total peace of mind afforded by our Five-Year Care Plan.”

Future models will include the G70 Shooting Brake unveiled last week; the fifth Genesis model to launch in Europe and its first bespoke product for the region.

Three Genesis electric cars are also due before 2023; the first of these will be the Electrified G80 saloon, debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show and the brand’s first-ever electric vehicle. It has an NEDC range of around 311 miles (500km) and a 0-60mph time of 4.9 seconds, while a 350kW rapid charging system gives a 10-80% recharge in 22 minutes.
