The firm says a total of 87% of drivers whose employers lease company cars through GE Capital Fleet Services now order their vehicles online. 

Gary Killeen, Fleet Services commercial leader for GE Capital UK, explained: “Fleet managers who do not have access to this kind of technology will tell you how time consuming it can be dealing with driver requests over new vehicles. Some employees will request information about dozens of different vehicles before placing an order.

“The high level of usage that we are now seeing shows exactly how useful and popular this tool is with both fleet managers and their drivers.”

Killeen added that the online ordering facility was part of GE’s ongoing investment in technology designed to empower drivers to take more and more control of basic fleet processes.

He said: “For drivers, iManage delivers access to a wide range of resources including fleet policies and processes, online service booking, MoT and repair booking, vehicle contract information, quotation and ordering, taxation details, fuel tax calculations, mileage and other personal information, and contact details for suppliers covering accidents, breakdowns, tyres and glass replacement. They are also able to access a library of fleet guides through our online Toolbox.

“Where we offer the ability for drivers to manage their own fleet interactions, the usage level is very high because it is usually easier and more convenient than interacting with a fleet department directly. Also, of course, it removes a large amount of administration for the fleet manager.”
