Full pricing & spec announced for new Skoda Superb

Priced from £18,640 – £50 less than the current entry-level model – the new Superb goes on sale later this year and brings its widest range of engine, transmission and trim level options.

Based on the VW Group’s modular MQB platform, the new Superb is 28mm longer and 47mm wider than its predecessor at 4,861mm long and 1,864mm wide, while the 2,841mm wheelbase is 80mm longer, giving greater passenger room. Boot space is also up by 30 litres to 625 litres, expanding to 1,760 litres with the rear seat backs folded. Despite the increased size, the new ŠKODA Superb is up to 75kg lighter than its predecessor thanks in part to weight-saving measures from the MQB construction.

The new Superb will be available with seven engine options with additional option of DSG automatic and 4×4 transmissions on selected models. The engine range consists of four TSI petrol and three TDI diesel units with outputs ranging from 118bhp for the entry-level diesel 1.6 TDI to 276bhp for the new 2.0 TSI engine. CO2 and fuel economy figures haven’t been released.

The launch range consists of four trim levels – S, SE, SE L Executive and Laurin & Klement – each of which bring higher specification and equipment levels.

New features include a Virtual pedal system that opens the boot with just the wave of a foot under the rear bumper and full integration of Apple and Android smartphones via CarPlay, MirrorLink and Google Android Auto. Safety and convenience features include Blind spot detection, Rear traffic alert, third-generation Park assist and Traffic jam assist.

Standard kit on the entry-level S model includes alloy wheels, air conditioning, LED rear lights, DAB digital radio and a touchscreen infotainment system. Skoda’s ESC safety system is also fitted across the range, and has the additional benefit of Multi-Collision brake included – triggering automatic brake intervention upon detection of a collision – as standard.

SE models start from £21,190 and add 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone air conditioning, rear parking sensors and cornering front fog lights, along with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and SmartLink. All SE models now also include two umbrellas, one stowed in each of the front doors.

SE L Executive models add to this with Bi-Xenon headlights with AFS and LED daytime running lights, leather upholstery with heated seats and Columbus satellite navigation with 8-inch touchscreen.

Starting from £24,220, SE L Executive models also include 18-inch Zenith alloy wheels, electrically operated boot and Drive mode selection.

At the top of the range, the new Laurin & Klement model adds striking 18-inch Pegasus anthracite alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, 10-speaker CANTON sound system and piano black decorative inserts. The L&K also showcases ŠKODA’s range of advanced technologies with Blind spot detection, Lane assist, Park assist, KESSY keyless entry and start system, TV tuner and Virtual pedal all fitted as standard.

First deliveries are expected September 2015.
