FTA to hold fleet operator conference on “Cutting Carbon, Cutting Costs”
Dubbed “Cutting Carbon, Cutting Costs”, the conference takes place on Wednesday 22 May at the Heritage Motor Museum, Gaydon, Warwickshire, and will provide delegates with information to help them improve their efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and ultimately lower fuel costs.
The event will also celebrate individual companies’ efforts to reduce their carbon emissions with the presentation of the inaugural Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) Awards.
The conference, which is sponsored by LCRS industry partner Bridgestone Tyres and Iveco Trucks, will include an address from Professor David Cebon, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cambridge, on the role of freight in greening the transport sector.
Delegates can choose from a range of sessions throughout the day to suit their operation:
Workshop session 1
The carbon case for collaboration OR Maximising driver training to reduce carbon
Workshop session 2
Greening fleets through alternative fuels and technologies OR Improving fuel efficiency through aerodynamics
Workshop session 3
Making the most of available vehicle payload OR Options for freight modal switch
Martin Flach, product director at Iveco, commented: ‘These days fleet managers are not just tasked with saving fuel and improving vehicle reliability and safety, they are under real pressure from senior management, customers and local communities to maximise the use of carbon reduction schemes within their operation. We are working closely with FTA to ensure delegates get a real flavour for how some of the highest profile vehicle operators in the country are achieving this, and we will be identifying the steps others can adopt to reduce their own carbon impact.’
Places are available to FTA members at £325 + VAT for the first delegate and £275 + VAT for subsequent delegates, and to non-members at £385 + VAT for the first delegate and £345 + VAT for subsequent delegates. LCRS members, Logistics Carbon Working Group attendees and CarbonFTA subscribers will receive £100 discount on the above prices.
