New VED rates take toll on April fleet registrations
Both the fleet and overall new car markets saw double-digit declines in April following the implementation of new VED rates.
The year-to-date picture was more positive however, with a record 972,092 cars registered in the first four months, up 1.1%.

Supermarkets cut pump prices
Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s have cut fuel prices by 2ppl for diesel and 1ppl for unleaded, following a fall in wholesale costs. Asda has not implemented the pricing cut, saying it consistently offers drivers the lowest fuel prices nationwide.

Volvo adds Business Edition Lux to S60 and V60
Volvo has introduced a new Business Edition Lux variant for its S60 and V60 models. The new trim level builds on the standard S60/V60 Business Edition with a package of features including 17-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery along with Piano Black inlays, active information display and rear parking camera.

Updated tax book sheds light on salary sacrifice changes
The latest edition of Colin Tourick’s annual tax book for fleet managers has been published, including a focus on the new rules for salary sacrifice and cash allowances. Other areas covered include car benefit tax, fuel benefit tax, VAT, income tax, corporation tax, capital allowances, fuel duty, vehicle excise duty and national insurance contributions.

Arval launches multi-supplier reporting platform
Arval has launched a new online reporting platform for clients working with multiple full service lease providers. The new solution is hosted by an independent third-party firm and is intended to provide multi-supplier fleets with a consolidated view of their fleet key performance indicators.

M8 ‘missing link’ goes live
Scotland’s M8 is now fully open for the first time in its history following the completion of the so-called ‘missing link’. Drivers were allowed onto the eastbound section of the new motorway on Sunday (30 April), a week after the westbound carriageway opened.
