The end of our time with Volkswagen’s Arteon came as the brand announced some serious revisions to the range – trim upgrades, new engines and, most importantly, the addition of a Shooting Brake variant.

The latest changes will help the Arteon stand out further in the company car park

The latter introduces even more style to the Arteon line-up and looks set to become a big seller among user-choosers. While the Arteon hatchback is pretty spacious in the boot area, this added versatility will serve the model well.

Most of the trim changes are minor, with all models gaining extra standard equipment such as the excellent digital cockpit and a sunroof (previously a £960 optional extra).

The big news for fleet buyers will be the addition of two new engines – an entry-level 1.5-litre TSI petrol unit with 150bhp and a plug-in eHybrid version which offers up to 34 miles on pure EV power – both of which come on stream later this year.

These changes only add to the Arteon’s all-round appeal – stylish clothes make it stand out in the company car park, the extra kit will please drivers while the new engine options will also spell lower Benefit-in-Kind tax bills.
