Fleet World Fleet Show: Toyota Auris Touring Sports & RAV4 to make UK show debuts

By / 11 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The vehicles form part of a 200-model line-up from 21 manufacturers that will provide fleet decision-makers with an excellent opportunity to properly assess their capabilities for their fleets.

This includes the first time to view the Auris Touring Sports, which goes on sale from July with CO2 emissions of just 85g/km.

This is the first time the Toyota Auris has been introduced to a wagon car body style. It’s also the first model in its class to offer the choice of a full hybrid powertrain, marking further diversification of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology. The full hybrid’s Hybrid Synergy Drive system features a 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine and an electric motor, giving a maximum power output of 134bhp, with 0-62mph acceleration in 11.2 seconds and a top speed of 109mph. And particularly worthy of note are class-leading CO2 emissions of 85g/km.

Further highlights include class-leading load space and the Easy-Flat seat system.

Meanwhile the fourth-generation RAV4, which was launched in March, will also be making its UK show debut. The new RAV4 reflects a stronger emphasis on family use, without sacrificing the model’s core values of manoeuvrability, versatility, an elevated view of the road and accomplished performance on and off-road.

Fleet decision-makers attending the Fleet Show will also be able to test other models from the Toyota line-up including the new Auris Hybrid, the Yaris Hybrid, Prius, Prius Plug In and Prius+.

Lexus will also have a strong presence with the CT 200h F sport, GS 450h F Sport, RX 450h F Sport.

And to add to the excitement, attendees will be offered a GT 86 experience, where they can learn to drift, as well as the chance of a prodrive in the exhilarating IS-F.

Meanwhile the winner of this year’s Fleet Driver of the Year competition – who will be announced live at the Show – will get a special treat in the form of fast laps around Silverstone’s racing circuit in the Lexus 4.8 litre V10 LFA.

This super car, which can sprint from 0-62mph in a staggering 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 202mph, has been provided by competition sponsors, Toyota and Lexus Fleet Services. The competition’s runner-up will also be rewarded with a place in the passenger seat as a pro-driver, showing what the LFA can do around Silverstone’s internationally renowned three-mile track.

Meanwhile at the indoor exhibition area in the Silverstone Wing, a number of leading fleet suppliers will be present to show the latest innovative industry solutions.

This includes Charging Solutions, which will showcase its complete range of plug-in vehicle charging systems, with a solution for all sizes of fleets.

The units are available as single or double outlet and can be wall or ground-mounted, with a range of access control and management/payment systems, including Pay As You Go.

As an accredited supplier to the Department of Transport’s £37m grant funding programme, the company says its systems meet the technical, safety and security standards for recharging plug-in vehicles.

Also available is the firm’s totally portable EV charging system EV RESCUE, giving stand-alone power to EVs, the equivalent to a “gallon of electricity”, eliminating the costly process of vehicle recovery.
