Fleet World Fleet Show: Thatcham to offer Autonomous Emergency Braking demos

By / 11 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

AEB assists drivers by applying braking automatically in situations where the vehicle has detected a need and the driver has not yet responded. Real-world data shows that through these systems, fleet managers have the potential to reduce the frequency of low speed collisions and associated claims costs by as much as 25%, not to mention reducing insurance premiums, managing duty of care and improving vehicle downtime.

Experts in safety, security and crash repair, Thatcham Research will provide Fleet Show visitors with the chance to experience AEB systems in action on some of the very latest volume-selling vehicles. Visitors will be able to drive the cars at specially designed “targets” and experience how it feels to have the vehicle brake for you.

As world leaders on research into Advanced Driver Assist Systems like AEB, Thatcham has worked with its insurer members to alert them to the benefits. Now vehicles that are fitted with AEB systems as standard will qualify for a reduction in insurance grouping and therefore potentially on associated insurance premiums.
