An award-winning motoring journalist, Alex not only works on Fleet World as deputy editor but also edits the EV Fleet World website. Alex is also a life-long car enthusiast with a fascination for new technology and future drivetrains and will help to play a key role in the judging for the EST Fleet Hero Awards.

Now in their ninth year, these prestigious awards are a key event in the green fleet calendar. The awards recognise private and public organisations that are successfully reducing their fleet carbon footprints and lowering their fuel bills and also include companies that supply cost and fuel saving products or services to fleets as well as the vehicle operators themselves.

This year, the judges will be looking for applicants who are able to demonstrate an innovative approach to fleet efficiency, or are pioneering the use of new technological solutions.

This year’s award categories are:

  • Best public sector fleet
  • Best business sector fleet
  • Plugged-in fleets
  • Grey fleet management
  • Eco-driving
  • Innovation and technology
  • Transport solutions supplier
  • Ultra low emission vehicle manufacturer
  • Commercial vehicle management
  • Individual achievement

There will be two rounds of judging for the Fleet Hero Awards this year. Organisations will be asked to submit no more than 250 words through an application form provided or via the Fleet Hero Awards website explaining why the application should be successful in the chosen category or categories (organisations can apply in multiple categories but must submit a separate application for each).

In the second round of judging, successful applicants will be asked to provide a maximum of 1,500 words based on supplied judging criteria, with a deadline of Friday 26th September.
