Fewer than 30% of fleet operators have speeding policy, finds new research
The vehicle tracking website’s survey of 100 fleet operators found that 20% of respondents had no speeding policy and half were “not sure”.
The results follow last year’s call from Brake, the road safety charity, for fleet operators to take steps against speeding. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) said “inappropriate” speeds were causing 24% of fatal accidents and 16% of collisions resulting in serious injury.

Kjell Anderton, TrackCompare director, said: ‘Speeding drivers present many problems for fleets and we wanted to find out whether it was a big concern for our customers.
‘The results show that although fleets think the way their staff drive is their responsibility 44% believe it is not a problem for them. Not unexpectedly, driver safety was one of the highest scoring responses, but what really surprised us was that not one respondent cited fuel economy as a reason for putting in place a speeding policy.’
